About Us

Mike and Margaret Lytz, long time residents of Cuyahoga Falls had a sense they could do something to support their community, the environment, and their families. To achieve these goals, they turned to sustainable farming, a new program developed to aid in park preservation.

When the call came for proposals to secure a longtime farm lease in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park the Lytz's answered. Their proposal to create Sarah's Vineyard was accepted in the spring of 2001. One year later, the Lytz's moved into the farmstead's renovated 1846 farmhouse. The Spring of 2003 marked birth of the vineyard, when the first rows of grapes were planted.

Visitors are not only able to purchase wines bottled from grapes grown on the vineyard, but also take part in several other offerings provided by Sarah's Vineyard.

The vineyard also includes a studio and gallery, which helps to promote the arts, and appeal to all ages, young, and the young at heart. The Studio at Sarah's Vineyard will be home to art classes for people of all ages, and will feature several different kilns enabling a wide range of artistic endeavors. The Gallery at Sarah's Vineyard will sell art from the Studio, and feature the work of various local artists.

The construction of the building that houses the Studio, Gallery, and Winery began in October 2004 and was completed in April of 2007. The building features a reclaimed 19th century post and beam frame. It's our goal to create a beautiful setting that blends with the cultural and scenic characteristics of the Cuyahoga Valley National Park, and to enrich the lives of our guests with new and exciting experiences.
